The arts have an amazing power to heal. Through art, children can express feelings and emotions they are unable to describe with words.  Art Therapy is a process where children are encouraged to use a variety of art media (pencils, pastels, colored markers, paint, clay etc.) to express and communicate what they are thinking or feeling particularly in relation to the problems or issues they are facing.

The benefits of children participating in art therapy:

  • Expression of difficult feelings (i.e. anger, fear or anxiety).
  • Development of healthy coping skills.
  • Having choices and control.
  • Increasing self esteem and confidence.
  • Increasing communication skills.
